Curtain airbags

~2min read

In the event of a severe side impact, the system protects the driver and passengers (except the centre rear seat passenger) by reducing the risk of head injury.

Each curtain airbag is integrated into the pillars and the upper part of the passenger compartment.

Activation

The airbags deploy simultaneously with the corresponding side airbags; in the event of a severe side impact affecting all or part of side zone B, at right angles to the vehicle's longitudinal axis, in the horizontal plane and from the outside towards the inside of the vehicle.

The curtain airbag inflates between the occupant of the front or rear seat and the window.

In the event of a light side impact or a rollover, the airbag may not deploy.

In the event of a rear or frontal impact, the airbag will not deploy.

Operating fault

If this warning lamp lights up, accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction display, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop and have the system checked.

The airbags may not deploy in the event of a severe impact.

* Depending on the country of sale.

To ensure the airbags work fully effectively, observe the following precautions: Sit in a normal, upright position. Wear correctly adjusted seat belts. Do not place anything between the occupants and the airbags (children, animals, objects...). These could interfere with airbag operation or cause injury to occupants. If the vehicle has been involved in an accident or has been stolen, have the airbag system checked. Airbag system repairs must be carried out by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop. Even when all the above precautions are observed, there is still a risk of injury or minor burns to the head, chest and arms. The airbag inflates very quickly (within a few milliseconds) and hot gas is released through special vents immediately after inflation.

Front airbags

Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resting your hands on its centre. Passengers must not rest their feet on the dashboard. Where possible, refrain from smoking (cigarette, pipe), as airbag deployment during smoking could cause burns or injury.

Do not dismantle, puncture or strike the airbag.

Side airbags *

Only fit approved seat covers designed for seats equipped with side airbags. Information on seat covers suitable for your vehicle's seats is available from a PEUGEOT dealer (see the "Practical information - Accessories" section). Never attach or stick anything to the seat backrests, as this could cause chest or arm injuries when a side airbag deploys.

Do not lean closer to the door than necessary.

Curtain airbags *

Never attach or stick anything to the roof lining, as this could cause chest or arm injuries when a curtain airbag deploys.

Do not unscrew the grab handles fitted to the roof lining; they are used to secure the curtain airbag.

* Depending on the country of sale.
