Fuel run-out (diesel)

~1min read

If the vehicle runs out of fuel, the fuel system must be primed.

The priming pump and bleed screw are located under the bonnet (see the corresponding illustration in the technical specifications chapter):

1.6 litre HDI 16V engine

  • fill the fuel tank with at least five litres of diesel,
  • operate the manual priming pump until fuel appears in the clear hose,
  • crank the starter until the engine starts.

2 litre HDI 16V engine

  • fill the fuel tank with at least five litres of diesel,
  • loosen the bleed screw,
  • operate the manual priming pump until diesel flows out of the bleed screw,
  • retighten the bleed screw,
  • crank the starter until the engine starts.
