Checking the levels
These operations are part of routine maintenance to keep your vehicle in good working order. Refer to the schedule in the PEUGEOT Network or in the service book supplied with this guide.
If you need to remove / refit the engine cover, handle it carefully so as not to damage the fixing clips.
When working under the bonnet, take care, as some engine parts may be extremely hot (risk of burns).
Oil level
- Check this regularly and top up between oil changes.
Check with the vehicle level and the engine stopped for more than 15 minutes, using the manual dipstick.
Dipstick
2 level marks
on the dipstick: A = maximum.
Never exceed this mark.
B = min.
To preserve engine reliability and emission control systems, do not use additives in the engine oil.
Oil change
To be carried out strictly at the specified intervals. The viscosity grade of the oil chosen must meet the requirements of the manufacturer's maintenance schedule. Refer to the instructions in the PEUGEOT Network.
Note: avoid prolonged skin contact with used oil.
Drain used oil into the containers provided for this purpose at the PEUGEOT Network.
Oil filter
Replace the cartridge periodically according to the maintenance schedule.
Brake fluid replacement
Use the fluid recommended by the manufacturer, meeting DOT 4 standards.
Replacement must be carried out at the intervals specified in the manufacturer's maintenance schedule.
Note: avoid any contact with skin. Brake fluid is harmful and highly corrosive.
Coolant level
- Use the fluid recommended by the manufacturer. When the engine is hot, the coolant temperature is regulated by the cooling fan. The fan may run with the ignition off. Also, as the cooling system is pressurised, wait at least one hour after switching off the engine before working on it.
- To avoid any risk of scalding, turn the cap two turns to release the pressure. Once the pressure has dropped, remove the cap and top up the level.
Note: the coolant does not need to be replaced.
Used products
Do not pour used oil, brake fluid or coolant into drains or onto the ground.
Power steering fluid level
Use the fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
- Open the reservoir with the engine cold and at ambient temperature. The level must always be above the MIN mark, close to the MAX mark.
Windscreen and headlamp washer fluid level
To ensure optimum cleaning and prevent freezing, do not top up or replace this fluid with water.
