Stalk bracket

~1min read

REMOVAL - REFITTING

Disconnect the battery and set the wheels straight.

Remove the steering wheel and both half-covers (for airbag vehicles, refer to removal of the clockspring on the following page or to chapter 88 for specific steering wheel removal procedures).

Airbag vehicle specifics

Before removing the assembly, it is essential to mark the position of the clockspring under the steering wheel, either:

  • by making sure the wheels are straight during dismantling in order to position the tape length at the centre,

  • by locking the clockspring rotor in place with adhesive tape.

Loosen screw (C), then tap the screwdriver sharply to release the cone.

Support de manette

Pull back the stalk assembly slightly and disconnect the connectors.

Refitting - Specific points

Engage the bracket with its components, connect the various connectors and push the assembly fully home against the steering column.

Complete the rest of the refitting and only tighten screw (C) once both half-covers are refitted, so as to position the stalks in line with the instrument panel and dashboard trim.

This operation is made easier by a cut-out giving access to screw (C) in the lower half-cover.

On a vehicle fitted with an airbag, observe the instructions given in the section "Specific points for the clockspring" on the following page or in chapter 88 (driver airbag).
