Steering wheel control assembly: Operation

~1min read

OPERATING PRINCIPLE OF THE LIGHTING AND WIPER SECTION

The light switch stalk and wiper stalk form a single inseparable unit, called the "steering wheel control assembly".

This unit consists of a control stage made up of diodes and contacts.

The body control unit determines the requested function by closing certain contacts in the steering wheel control assembly.

Example: when pins 12 and 14 are connected, the body control unit detects a request for the right-hand turn signals.

The permanent links (4-3), (12-5), (8-2), (13-14), (10-9) are used to diagnose the steering wheel control assembly and its links with the body control unit.

Note: To operate intermittent wiper timing at sensitivity 2, 3 or 4, sensitivity 1 must first be selected (see control table).

* If the body control unit detects no contact from the steering wheel control assembly, low-speed wiping is automatically selected. Wiping stops when the contact (pins 4 and 5) is closed.
