System operation
PASSIVE SAFETY EQUIPMENT
The MEGANE II benefits from the equipment found on the LAGUNA II and VEL SATIS, namely:- Side thorax airbag on front seat.
- Dual pretensioner on front seat for types B, J, G, R, L, K, S.
- Driver seat position sensor for adaptive airbag.
- Rear centre three-point seat belt.
- Front and rear Isofix anchorages.
INNOVATION:
- These ACU4 control units identified by Vdiag 08 use the information from the side impact sensors to also confirm detection of a frontal impact. This is why vehicles even without side airbags are fitted with side impact sensors.
ACU4 Vdiag 08 control units are always configured "With side sensors". There is no command to deconfigure them using the diagnostic tool.
- Steering side configuration "LEFT" or "RIGHT" to match the system to the vehicle.
- Passenger airbag deactivation switch.
- Driver and passenger rear front airbags. These airbags are integrated into the belts only on SCENIC II.
- On the SCENIC II, the absence of rear chest airbags is offset by reinforcements in the doors.
- "Anti-slide" airbag in the seat cushion, in addition to a belt pretensioner on front seats for MEGANE II types C, E and G.
This airbag is referred to as follows in this document:
DRIVER SEAT CUSHION/VENTRAL AIRBAG and PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION/VENTRAL AIRBAG.
The ACU 4 Vdiag 08 control unit uses the same firing line to control either this seat cushion airbag (anti-slide) or the seat ventral pretensioner. On versions B, J, R, L, K, S the configuration is: Driver seat ventral pretensioner and passenger seat ventral pretensioner.
On versions C, E and G the configuration is: Driver seat cushion airbag and passenger seat cushion airbag.
These two components can never be fitted on the same vehicle, as they use the same firing line.
