AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT

BEFORE ANY CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT, YOU MUST CONTACT YOUR TECHLINE.

To allow analysis of the returned control unit failure, it is strictly forbidden to use command RZ001 "Clear fault memory" when DF001 "Control unit" is present or stored.

Airbag control units are sold locked to prevent any risk of accidental deployment (all firing lines are inhibited).

"Locked" mode is indicated by the airbag fault warning light on the instrument panel.

When replacing an airbag control unit, proceed as follows:

  • Make sure the ignition is switched off.
  • Replace the control unit.
  • If necessary, modify the control unit configuration.
  • Write the VIN to the control unit using the diagnostic tool, command VP010 "VIN write".
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Carry out a check with the diagnostic tool.
  • Write the after-sales service date using the diagnostic tool, command VP008 "Write last after-sales service date".
  • Unlock the control unit only if the diagnostic tool reports no fault, and check that the warning light goes out.
