Satellite Radio Reception

You may experience difficulty receiving XM™ satellite radio signals in the following situations.

  • When driving in a tunnel or in an underground parking garage.
  • When driving under the upper level of a multi-level highway.
  • When driving under a bridge.
  • When driving next to a tall vehicle (such as a truck or bus) that blocks the signal.
  • When driving in a valley where surrounding hills or peaks block the satellite signal.
  • When driving on a mountain road where the signal is blocked by mountains.
  • When driving through areas with tall trees that block the signal (30 ft / 10 m or more), such as on a road through a dense forest.
  • The signal may become weak in some areas not covered by the XM™ repeater network.

Information

There may also be additional unexpected situations that cause XM™ satellite radio signal reception problems.

Advisory messages, such as "Channel Unavailable," may appear when XM™ Radio is started.
