Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the roof headliner assembly. (Refer to Body - "Roof Trim")
  3. Remove the sunroof motor (A) after loosening the screws and disconnecting the connector.
  4. Remove the sunshade motor (A) after loosening the screws and disconnecting the connector.
Sunroof Reset: When the one-touch function is activated with the switch, but the sunroof glass or sunshade does not move automatically and only moves while the switch is held manually, the default setting has been erased. In this case, the sunroof must be reset as described in detail below.
You need to reset the sunroof motor to its default settings in the following cases:
  • The sunroof motor is temporarily discharged from the battery when the battery or fuse is replaced or the battery is discharged.
  • The one-touch automatic opening or closing function of the sunroof does not operate properly.
  • The sunroof reopens during automatic closing even if no object is caught in the sunroof (safety function).
  1. With the ignition switched on, use the CLOSE switch to fully close the sunroof and sunshade.
  2. When the glass and sunshade are fully closed, release the CLOSE switch, then press and hold the switch (about 10 seconds) until the glass and sunshade move once.
  3. Release the CLOSE switch, then press and hold the switch again. The glass and sunshade will open and close in the following order to complete the sunroof reset process: sunshade opens > sunroof glass tilts, opens, and then closes > sunshade slides and closes. If the CLOSE switch is released during the above operation, the reset process is cancelled and you must return to step 1 and repeat the process.
  4. The sunroof SCU (Sunroof Control Unit) determines the motor operating time.
  5. The motor can operate continuously for the 1st operating time (120 ± 10 sec.).
  6. The motor, which operates continuously, stops after the 1st operating time (120 ± 10 s).
  7. The motor then stays off for the 1st cooling time (18 ± 2 sec.).
  8. The motor operates for the 2nd operating time (10 ± 2 sec.) when motor operation continues after the 1st cooling time (18 ± 2 sec.).
  9. The motor, which operates continuously, stops after the second start (10 ± 2 s).
  10. The motor does not operate for the 2nd cooling time (18 ± 2 sec.).
  11. The motor repeats the 2nd operating time and 2nd cooling time while motor operation continues.
    A. If the motor does not operate continuously, the operating time limit for motor overheat protection is increased.
    B. The motor operating time resets to "0" if the battery or fuse is reconnected after being disconnected, discharged, or blown.
    T1: 120 ± 10 sec., T2: 18 ± 2 sec., T3: 10 ± 2 sec., T4: 18 ± 2 sec.
If the CLOSE switch is released during the above operation, the reset process is cancelled. In this case, return to step 1 and restart the sunroof reset process.
Overheating Motor Protection: To protect the sunroof motor from overheating during continuous operation, the sunroof SCU controls the operating time and cooling time of the motor as follows:
