Removal

Wear gloves to protect your hands.
  • Use seat covers to avoid damaging the surfaces.
  1. Remove the rear pillar garnish. (Refer to Interior Trim - "Rear Pillar Trim")
  2. Loosen the quarter fixed glass mounting nuts (A).

    Tightening torque: 2.9 ~ 3.9 N·m

  3. Using a utility knife, cut out the quarter fixed glass sealant.
    • Do not scrape down to the painted body surface; damaged paint will interfere with proper bonding.
Remove the rubber dam and brackets from the body. Mask the surrounding surfaces before painting.

Installation

  1. Using a utility knife, scrape the old adhesive to a smooth layer approximately 2 mm (0.08 in) thick on the bonding surface around the entire quarter fixed glass flange.
    • Do not scrape down to the painted body surface, as damaged paint will prevent proper bonding.
    • Mask the surrounding surfaces before painting.
    • Remove the clips from the body.
  2. Clean the body bonding surface with a sponge moistened with alcohol. After cleaning, make sure that oil, grease and water do not contact the surface.
  3. Using a sponge, apply a thin coat of glass primer along the edge of the quarter fixed glass as shown, then lightly wipe it with gauze:
    • Do not apply body primer to the quarter fixed glass and do not mix up the body primer and glass primer sponges.
    • Never touch primed surfaces with your hands. If you do, the adhesive may not bond properly to the quarter fixed glass, causing a leak after the quarter fixed glass is installed.
    • Do not allow water, dust or abrasive materials to contact the primed surface.
  4. Using a sponge, apply a thin coat of body primer to the original adhesive remaining around the flange. Allow the body primer to dry for at least 10 minutes.
    • Do not apply glass primer to the body. Be careful not to mix up the glass primer and body primer sponges.
    • Never touch primed surfaces with your hands.
  5. Pack the adhesive into a cartridge without air pockets to ensure continuous delivery. Place the cartridge in a sealant gun and apply a sealant bead along the edge of the quarter fixed glass (A) as shown. Apply the adhesive within 30 minutes after applying the glass primer. Make the bead slightly thicker at each corner.

    Tightening torque: 2.9 ~ 3.9 N·m

  6. Install the quarter fixed glass.
  7. Allow the adhesive to dry for at least one hour, then spray water over the quarter fixed glass and check for leaks. Mark any leaking areas, allow the fixed glass to dry, then seal with sealant. Let the vehicle stand for at least four hours after quarter repair.
  8. Install all remaining removed parts.
  9. Install the rear pillar garnish.
