Inspection on Vehicle

Inspect the ignition coil assembly and perform the spark test.

  1. Check for DTCs.
    • If a diagnostic trouble code is present, perform troubleshooting according to the procedure for that trouble code. (Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart)
  2. Check whether sparks occur.
    1. Remove the engine cover.
    2. Remove the ignition coils.
    3. Using a spark plug socket, remove the spark plugs.
    4. Disconnect the injector extension connectors.
    5. Ground the spark plug to the engine.
    6. Check whether a spark occurs at each spark plug while cranking the engine.
    • Do not crank the engine for more than 5 seconds.
  3. If no sparks occur, perform the following check.
  4. Using a spark plug socket, install the spark plugs.
  5. Install the ignition coils.
  6. Install the engine cover.
