Inspection

  1. Disconnect the vapor hose from the PCV valve, then remove the PCV valve.
  2. Reconnect the PCV valve to the vapor hose.
  3. Inspect the PCV valve operation.
    1. Start the engine and allow it to idle.
    2. Place your finger over the open end of the PCV valve.
    3. Make sure that vacuum is felt at the intake manifold.
    The piston inside the PCV valve will move back and forth due to the vacuum.
  4. If no vacuum is felt, clean or replace the vapor hose.
