Cleaning and Preserving the Engine Compartment

~1min read

All components and assemblies in the engine compartment, including the engine and clutch, are anti-corrosion treated.

However, especially in winter, when roads are salted, additional corrosion protection is required. For this purpose, the entire engine compartment, including the underside of the engine, is washed with water and then treated against the damaging effects of salt.

It is advisable to clean the engine at least once with a degreasing agent, but never with gasoline or diesel fuel. Degreasing solutions also remove rust, among other things. Preservatives should be applied to all surfaces and seams.

The lower part of the engine compartment, especially the water drainage channels, must be cleaned of leaves and other debris accumulations that impede the free flow of water.
