Seat Belts

Before starting any trip, all occupants must fasten their seat belts. Airbags only supplement the seat belts to increase overall protection. They do not replace the seat belts.

Each seat belt must be used by only one person.

Never hold children, even infants, on your lap. Make sure the lap belt sits across the upper thighs, not over the abdomen. Do not allow the belt to cross the neck, rub against sharp edges, or become pinched. Make sure no hard or breakable objects are under the belt. The belt webbing must lie as close to the body as possible, without twists and with proper tension, across the shoulder and upper thighs. Otherwise, in a frontal collision the lap belt may slide up over the hips, which may cause abdominal injuries. Avoid wearing bulky clothing and periodically tighten the belt at chest level.

When using the center rear seat belt, securely lock the rear seatback. Otherwise, the belt will not provide its protective function.◄
