Operating Principle

The PDC system assists with parking by giving audible signals and showing the actual distance to obstacles in front of or behind the vehicle on the display. The rear and front bumpers each have four ultrasonic sensors that measure the distance to the nearest object. The measuring range of these sensors is up to 2 m. The detection limits are approximately 60 cm for the front and outer rear sensors, and approximately 1.5 m for the center rear sensors.

PDC is an assistance system that can warn of obstacles when approaching them slowly, as is usually the case when parking. Do not approach an obstacle too quickly, because the system has physical limits and its response may be delayed.◄

When driving with a trailer, the rear sensors are not effective and therefore are not activated.
