Trailer Hitch with Retractable Ball Coupling

The ball coupling of the trailer hitch is located at the lower edge of the body.

It can be extended and retracted with the ignition switched off. Also observe the operating instructions supplied with the device.

Before driving with a trailer, make sure the ball coupling is correctly locked. The ball coupling is locked correctly if the LED on the side wall of the luggage compartment lights green.◄

Extending the Ball Coupling

1. Switch off the ignition and open the luggage compartment.

2. Move out of the swing radius of the ball coupling at the rear of the vehicle.

3. Press the button on the side wall of the luggage compartment. The ball coupling swings to an intermediate position. The LED in the button flashes red.

4. Turn the ball coupling further by hand until it locks with an audible click. Cotton gloves to protect hands from dirt are supplied. The ball coupling is locked correctly if the LED in the button lights green.

If the ball coupling has not locked correctly, the LED in the button flashes red. Hold the button pressed for about 5 seconds, then extend the coupling again. If the LED in the button again lights red, do not use the trailer hitch, otherwise an unreliable connection may cause an accident.◄

Body reinforcement for the towing hitch reduces the effectiveness of the rear bumper system, which absorbs impact energy through elastic deformation.

Retracting the Tow Ball

1. Unhitch the trailer, remove the stabilizing devices and unplug the trailer electrical connector and, if fitted, the adapter from the socket.

2. Remove the cover in the side wall of the luggage compartment, see “Extending the Tow Ball”.

3. Press the button, see “Extending the Tow Ball”.

4. Grasp the very end of the tow ball and turn it inward until it locks with an audible click.

The tow ball is locked correctly when the LED in the button lights green.

To avoid injury, grasp the very end of the tow ball.◄

The trailer electrical socket is located on the towing hitch. Fold down the cover.
