Towing a Trailer

~1min read

Observe the maximum speed set in the country you are traveling in, and in any case do not exceed a speed of 80 km/h. Excessive speed may cause the trailer combination to lose stability.◄

Stabilizing the Vehicle Combination

If the trailer begins to sway, the entire trailer combination can be stabilized only by immediately applying firm braking. Avoid unnecessary steering inputs. If steering becomes necessary, act with extreme caution so as not to interfere with other road users.

The Trailer Stability Assist system will help you stabilize the vehicle combination.

Trailer stabilization system

As soon as the system detects trailer sway, it brakes the vehicle combination to a safe speed, restoring stability.

функционирует при скорости 65 км/ч и выше, если к автомобилю подключено электрооборудованиеThe system operates at a speed of 65 km/h and above when the trailer electrical system is connected to the vehicle.

It does not function when the DSC system is switched off or faulty.

In an emergency, the system may have a stabilizing effect even if the corresponding socket is connected to a device other than trailer electrical equipment, such as a bicycle carrier light.

The system cannot react in time to a sudden trailer swing (for example, on a slippery road or loose surface).

A trailer with a high center of gravity may tip over without first beginning to sway.◄

Driving Uphill

For safety reasons and to avoid disrupting traffic flow, the maximum climbable gradient, measured at sea level, is limited to 12 %.

With the increased permissible towing weight, this limit is 8 %.

Driving Downhill

On downhill slopes the trailer is more prone to swaying, so the driver must pay increased attention.

Before starting the descent, shift to a low gear, down to first, and descend slowly and carefully.
