Defogging and Defrosting
The defrost function operates whether the air conditioner is on or off. To remove frost from the windshield:
1. Turn off the recirculation mode (indicator will go off), then turn the air distribution knob to the WINDSHIELD DEFROST position (
).
2. Turn the temperature control knob to the red zone.
3. For rapid defrosting, set the fan speed control knob to the maximum speed.
Defrosting is more effective when the air conditioner is on.
On some models, the air conditioner turns on automatically when the WINDSHIELD DEFROST (
) or FLOOR/WINDSHIELD DEFROST (
) mode is selected. This improves defrosting efficiency.
To prevent the windshield from fogging, turn the air distribution knob to the FLOOR/WINDSHIELD DEFROST position (
), so warm air flows into the cabin from below.
A temperature difference between the outside air and the windshield may cause the glass to fog, limiting visibility.
• For this reason, do not use the FLOOR/WINDSHIELD DEFROST (
) or WINDSHIELD DEFROST (
) modes in conditions of high humidity when the temperature control knob is set to the blue zone.
• This may lead to an accident with possible vehicle damage and passenger injury.
