Wiper control

~4min read

In winter conditions, remove any snow, ice or frost from the windscreen, around the wiper arms and the wiper blades before operating the wipers.

Do not operate the wipers on a dry windscreen. In extremely cold or hot weather, check that the wiper blades are not stuck to the windscreen before operating them.

Using an automatic car wash may temporarily cause noise and reduce wiping quality.

This does not require the wiper blades to be replaced.

Single wipe (press down and release).

or

Automatic wiping

Refer to the corresponding section.

In position 1 or 2, the wiping frequency decreases automatically when the vehicle speed drops below 5 km/h.

When the speed rises above 10 km/h again, the wiping returns to its original frequency (fast or normal).

After the ignition is switched off, the wiper arms may move slightly as they return to their parked position under the bonnet.

If the ignition is switched off while the wiper is active, the wiper control must be operated to reactivate wiping when the ignition is switched back on (unless the ignition was off for less than 1 minute).

Front washer

► Pull and hold the wiper control towards you.

Stopping the washer is followed by one final wiping cycle.

The front washer jets are integrated at the end of each arm.

The washer fluid is sprayed along the wiper blade, which improves visibility and reduces fluid consumption.

To avoid damaging the wiper blades, do not operate the washer if the washer fluid reservoir is empty.

Only operate the washer if the fluid cannot freeze on the windscreen and impair visibility. Use "extreme cold" products in winter.

Never use water to top up.

Reverse gear

When reverse gear is engaged, if the front wiper is operating, the rear wiper will switch on automatically.

The function is switched on or off via the vehicle settings menu on the screen.

This function is activated by default.

When using a towbar-mounted bicycle carrier or when there is heavy snow or frost build-up, deactivate the automatic rear wiper via the Driving / Vehicle menu on the touchscreen.

Rear washer

► Turn and hold the ring fully towards the dashboard.

The washer and wiper operate for as long as the ring is turned.

Stopping the washer is followed by one final wiping cycle.

Front automatic wiping

In AUTO mode, the front wiper operates automatically and adapts to the intensity of precipitation.

Detection is performed by a rain/light sensor located in the upper central part of the windscreen behind the interior rear-view mirror.

Do not obstruct the rain/light sensor.

When washing the vehicle in an automatic car wash, deactivate automatic wiping and switch off the ignition.

In winter, wait until the windscreen has fully defrosted before operating automatic wiping.

Activation

► Give a short press on the control downwards.

One wiping cycle confirms that the request has been taken into account.

This warning light comes on in the instrument cluster, accompanied by a message display.

Off

► Give another short press on the control downwards, or move the control to another position (Int, 1 or 2).

This warning light goes out in the instrument cluster, accompanied by a message display.

Automatic wiping must be reactivated after each ignition switch-off longer than one minute, by giving a downward press on the control.

Malfunction

If automatic wiping malfunctions, the wiper operates in intermittent mode.

Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
