Towing - Lifting
Towing and lifting the Citroën C6 require special care. This chapter shows where the towing eyes are located, how to expose them and how to tow the vehicle safely. Important: without the engine running, the brakes and steering work only with limited assistance. This is emphasized by instructions on the position of the ignition key and the selector lever position. The electronic parking brake must also be released before towing. Towing methods with raised wheels or at minimum vehicle height are not permitted. These safety guidelines prevent damage and ensure a smooth transport, whether after a breakdown or on the way to a workshop.
Towing

Towing eyes are fitted at the front and rear of the vehicle.
Remove the cover:
- At the front cover, insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the upper part of the cover and pry it off.
- At the rear cover, press on the right side.
The ignition key must be in position M to ensure the vehicle remains steerable.
Attach a tow bar to the towing eyes listed above.
The towing eye can be removed; it is stored in the jack housing in the spare wheel.
With the engine switched off, steering and braking assistance is no longer available.
When towing another vehicle, its wheels must be able to turn freely (gearbox in neutral).
RECOMMENDATION
Towing at low speed and over short distances is permitted in exceptional cases, subject to local legal regulations.
In all other cases, the vehicle must be transported with a tow truck.
Check that the electric parking brake is released.
Note - towing automatic transmission
Set the selector lever to position N (neutral).
Towing “front or rear with raised wheels” or in the “minimum height” position is not permitted.
The towing and lifting system of the Citroën C6 1st generation is designed for safety and ease of use. The Citroën C6 2005-2012 provides special features such as front and rear towing eyes, along with clear instructions for correct handling in emergencies.
It is especially important to note the recommendation to use a tow truck in most cases. In this way, the Citroën C6 1st generation ensures that both the vehicle and the driver remain as well protected as possible.
