Fuel

Refuelling the Citroën C6 (1st generation, 2005–2012) is subject to numerous safety instructions. This chapter explains that refuelling is only permitted with the engine and ignition switched off. Refuel only with the engine stopped and the ignition switched off.

When filling the tank to full, do not resume filling more than three times after the automatic shut-off; this may cause malfunctions.

Top-up quantities must be more than 5 litres to be registered by the fuel sender.

To open the flap, press control A. Release the plug and hang it on the tab on the inside of the flap.

Opening the fuel filler cap may release pressure.

This is indicated by a noise caused by a leak in the fuel system.

Note: The fuel filler flap is locked when the vehicle is locked with the remote control.

Fuel quality

A sticker on the inside of the fuel filler flap shows the approved fuel grade.

Diesel engine fuel quality

The diesel engines are designed to run on the biofuels that comply with current and future European standards (diesel to EN 590 standard, blended with a biofuel to EN 14214 standard) and that are available at filling stations (blend of 0 to 7% fatty acid methyl ester possible).

The use of any other type of (bio)fuel (vegetable or animal oils, heating oil, etc.) is strictly prohibited (risk of damage to the engine and fuel system).

If fuel that is not suitable for your vehicle's engine has been added, the tank must be drained before starting the engine.
