Warning lights and switches
GENERAL INFORMATION

Low fuel level warning light
Illumination of the warning lamp indicates that the fuel supply will soon be
exhausted. The lamp illuminates when approximately 7.5 L of fuel remains in the tank.

Washer fluid level warning lamp
The warning lamp illuminates when the washer fluid reservoir is low.
fluid. When the warning lamp illuminates, add fluid to the reservoir.
Warning.
Operating the vehicle without washer fluid in the reservoir may
be hazardous. Check the washer fluid level in the reservoir periodically.

Engine system malfunction warning lamp
The warning lamp illuminates when the ignition is switched on and remains lit while the
starter is operating. The warning lamp goes out immediately after the engine starts.
Illumination of the warning lamp with the engine running indicates a malfunction in the engine systems. In this case, the electronic control module
switches the engine to limp-home mode, which allows the vehicle to continue
driving. To correct the malfunction, contact a service center.
Do not drive the vehicle for an extended period with the
warning lamp illuminated, as this may increase fuel consumption, reduce vehicle performance, and cause serious engine damage. Brief illumination of the warning lamp is normal and does not indicate engine system failure.

Parking brake and brake fluid level warning lamp
The warning lamp illuminates when the parking brake is applied (ignition
switched on).
Before driving off, make sure the parking brake is fully released.
The warning lamp should go out. If the warning lamp remains on after the parking brake is fully released, this may indicate a dangerous drop in brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir.
Warning.
Operating the vehicle with the warning lamp illuminated is dangerous.
Contact a service center immediately to inspect and repair the brake system.

High beam indicator lamp
The indicator lamp illuminates when the headlight high beam is switched on.

Engine oil pressure warning lamp
The warning lamp illuminates when the ignition is switched on (this confirms that the lamp is working) and should go out after the engine starts.
If the warning lamp illuminates while the vehicle is moving, this indicates a dangerous drop in engine lubrication system pressure. In this case, stop the vehicle and switch off the engine. Check the engine oil level. If the oil level is normal, contact the nearest service center to inspect the lubrication system.
Warning.
Do not operate the engine with the oil pressure warning lamp illuminated.
If the oil level is normal, stop driving and
contact a service center immediately.

Charging system warning lamp
Illumination of the warning lamp indicates that the battery is discharging. The warning lamp illuminates when the ignition is switched on to check the lamp, and should go out after the engine starts.
If the warning lamp illuminates while driving, do the following: – pull over to the side of the road and stop.
– check the tension of the alternator drive belt.
If the belt tension is normal, the malfunction is in the alternator or in the
voltage regulator. Locate and correct the malfunction immediately,
by contacting a service center.
Warning.
Do not continue driving if the alternator drive belt is broken or loose.
This will cause the engine to overheat.

Turn signal and hazard warning indicator lamp
The indicator lamp flashes when the turn signals or hazard warning lights are operated.
Rapid flashing of the lamp indicates a malfunction of the turn signal bulbs.
Warning.
To avoid creating a hazardous situation on the road, replace the
failed turn signal bulb immediately. If the green arrow indicator lamps do not
illuminate at all, check the electrical fuse and
the bulbs.

Door ajar warning lamp
The warning lamp illuminates if one of the doors is open or not fully closed.
Warning.
Before driving, make sure that the warning lamp
is off.

Unfastened seat belt warning lamp
The warning lamp illuminates when the ignition is on (ignition key in position II) until the driver's seat belt is fastened. In addition, when the ignition key is turned to position II, a warning buzzer sounds if the driver's seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds for 4–8
seconds.

Central light switch
To switch the exterior lights on or off, turn the knob
located at the end of the combination
lever.
The knob has three positions.
OFF position: exterior lights are off.
POSITION
: parking lights, license plate lights and
instrument panel lights are on.
POSITION
: all lights listed above are on, and
in addition the low beam headlights are on.
Warning buzzer.
If the ignition key is turned to position B or I with the lights on,
a warning buzzer sounds to remind you to switch off the lights.
Warning.
The asymmetric front beam produced by the low beam headlights
provides better visibility of the right side of the traffic lane or the shoulder. When operating the vehicle in countries with left-hand traffic, cover the 15-degree headlight segment with black tape.
