Ventilation, Heating and Air Conditioning of the Passenger Compartment
GENERAL INFORMATION.
Ventilation and Heating.
A mixing system of cold and
hot air is used to control the air temperature. This system provides low-inertia control of
air temperature, which is practically independent of vehicle speed.
The air flow into the passenger compartment is determined by the fan speed. Therefore, the fan must be switched on as needed, even when the vehicle is moving. To heat the rear seat passenger footwell area, warm air is supplied through ducts located under the floor mat.

Center Air Vents
Air can enter the passenger compartment through both center air vents. The air
flow volume is controlled by the air flow control, located between the grilles.
The air flow direction from the center vents can be adjusted as desired in both horizontal and vertical planes using the levers that provide tilt and swivel of the
vents.
vents.
Side Air Vents.
Air can enter the passenger compartment through the left and right side
vents.

Front Door Window Defroster Nozzles
Cold or warm air is directed to defrost both the windshield and the front door
side windows (mainly the areas that provide visibility of the outside rear view mirrors).
Passenger Compartment Air Conditioning System.
The ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems are
A single functional system designed to provide maximum
comfortable conditions in the vehicle in any season, regardless of weather
and outside air temperature. The air conditioning cooling unit
reduces air temperature and humidity and also filters dust from the air. The heater unit of the heating system raises the temperature
of the air in all operating modes depending on the position of the control.
temperature. The amount of air entering the cabin depends on the blower fan speed.

Air Conditioning Switch
The button is used to turn the air conditioning on and off.
air.
Start the engine, use the blower switch to select the desired fan speed, and press the air conditioning button. The indicator lamp will illuminate when the air conditioning is on. To turn off the air conditioning, press the same button again.
Note that the air conditioning will not turn on if the blower switch is in the OFF position or if the outside air temperature is below 0° C.
Warning.
If the air conditioning system is operating while the vehicle is moving
on long uphill grades or in heavy city traffic, monitor the engine temperature. Operating the air conditioning under these conditions may cause the engine to overheat. If the coolant temperature exceeds the permissible value, turn off the air conditioning system.

Air Temperature Control
The control provides smooth adjustment of the air temperature entering the vehicle cabin over a wide range.
Outside air may be heated, cooled, or directed into the cabin without temperature change. Moving
the control lever to the left increases the flow of cooled air (blue zone).
Moving the control lever to the right increases the flow of heated air (red zone).

Blower Fan Speed Switch
The switch is used to control the blower fan speed. There are four fan speeds in total

Air Distribution Control
The control is used to select the desired air distribution mode for air entering the cabin.
Upper level mode: air enters the cabin through the center and side vents
.
Bi-level mode: air enters the cabin through the center, side and floor vents in the front footwell area
for the front passenger and driver.
Floor mode: air mainly enters the cabin through the vents
in the front footwell area for the front passenger and driver.
Defrost: air is directed to the windshield and front door windows.

Recirculation Switch
Press the switch when driving in heavily dusty areas or in dense traffic to prevent dust and polluted air from entering the cabin. This mode can also be useful for quickly reducing or increasing the cabin air temperature. When recirculation is on, the indicator lamp illuminates and outside air intake stops.
To turn off recirculation and resume fresh air ventilation of the cabin, press the same button again. The indicator lamp will go off.
Warning.
Do not use recirculation mode for extended periods. This may increase humidity in the cabin and cause the windows to fog.
Driving with fogged windows is dangerous, as visibility is reduced and the risk of a road traffic accident increases.
Maximum cooling mode
Recommended for hot weather and after the vehicle has been parked in the sun for a long time. Open the windows briefly to vent hot air from the cabin.

Air conditioning switch: ON.
Recirculation switch: ON.
Air distribution control:
Air temperature control: fully left position (blue zone).
Blower fan speed switch: position 4.
Normal cooling mode
Recommended for city and highway driving.

Air temperature control: in the blue zone.
Blower fan speed switch: as desired.
Bi-level ventilation mode
Recommended for intermediate seasons when outside air temperature is low and there is insufficient sunlight.
If the air temperature control is set to the middle position (between the blue and red zones), warmer air will be directed to the footwell area and cooler air to the upper part of the cabin.

Air conditioning switch: ON.
Recirculation switch: OFF.

Warning.
To prevent windows from fogging in rainy weather, set the air distribution control to the defrost position when cold outside air enters the cabin (heater off). The difference between the outside air temperature and the windshield temperature may cause moisture to condense on the inside of the glass
and reduce visibility from the vehicle.
Air conditioner operating recommendations.
If the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight, open the windows and ventilate the interior before switching on the air conditioner.
To remove condensation from fogged windows in rainy weather, reduce
the interior air temperature by switching on the air conditioner. This method is useful in the rainy
season, when air humidity is very high.
When driving in the city with heavy traffic, the efficiency of the air conditioning
system may decrease due to frequent stops and slow traffic movement.
of the vehicle at low speed.
If the air conditioner is not used for a long time (one month or more),
it is necessary to switch it on for several minutes once a week, even in winter. Before
switching on the air conditioner, start the engine. Periodic switching on
of the air conditioner helps maintain the lubricant film on the compressor parts and
seals, and also extends the service life of the air conditioning system.
The air conditioning compressor does not engage if the fan switch is in the OFF position or the ambient air temperature is below 0°
C.
