How to Use Remote Start
In this manual: KNOW YOUR VEHICLE
~2min read
Press and release the Remote Start button on the key fob twice within five seconds. The vehicle doors will lock, the parking lamps will flash, and the horn will sound twice (if programmed). The engine will then start, and the vehicle will remain in remote start mode for a 15-minute cycle. Pressing the Remote Start button a third time turns off the engine.
To drive the vehicle, press the unlock button or use the Keyless Enter-N-Go function of the key fob inside the vehicle, press the brake pedal, and turn the ignition to the ON/RUN position.
NOTE:
- During remote start, the engine will run for only 15 minutes.
- Remote start can be used only twice in a row.
- If an engine malfunction or low fuel level is present, the engine will start and then shut off after 10 seconds.
- The parking lamps turn on and remain on in remote start mode.
- For safety, the power windows are disabled when the vehicle is in remote start mode.
- The ignition must be placed in the ON/RUN position before remote start. The sequence may be repeated for a third cycle.
All of the following conditions must be met before the engine can be remote started:
- Gear selector in PARK
- Doors closed
- Hood closed
- Liftgate closed
- Panic shutdown
- Brake switch inactive (brake pedal not pressed)
- Battery charge at an acceptable level
- Check Engine indicator must not be illuminated
- PANIC button not pressed
- System not cancelled from the previous remote start
- Start the event
- Vehicle security indicator flashing
- Ignition in OFF position
- Fuel level meets minimum requirements
- Vehicle security system not indicating an intrusion
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) not illuminated
- Do not run the engine in a closed garage or confined space. Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide (CO), which is odorless and colorless. Carbon monoxide is poisonous and can cause serious injury or death if inhaled.
- Keep Key Fobs away from children. Operation of the remote start system, windows, door locks, or other controls may result in serious injury or death.
