Red Warning Lights
Airbag Warning Light
This warning light indicates a fault in the airbag system. It illuminates for four to eight seconds as a bulb check when the ignition is in the ON/RUN or ACC/ON/RUN position. This light will illuminate with a single chime when a fault in the airbag system is detected, and it will remain illuminated until the fault is corrected. If the light either does not come on at startup, stays on continuously, or comes on while driving, have the system checked by an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Brake Warning Light
This warning light monitors various brake functions, including brake fluid level and the parking brake. If the brake warning light illuminates, it may indicate that the parking brake is applied, that the brake fluid level is low, or that there is a fault in the anti-lock brake system (ABS).
If the warning light stays on when the parking brake is released and the brake fluid level is at the MAX mark on the brake master cylinder reservoir, this indicates a possible malfunction in the brake hydraulic system or a problem with the brake booster, or the anti-lock brake system (ABS) / electronic stability control (ESC) has detected a fault. In this case, the warning light will remain on until the condition is corrected. If the problem is related to the brake booster, the ABS pump will operate when the brake pedal is depressed, and brake pedal pulsation may be felt at each stop.
The dual brake system provides backup braking capability in the event of a failure in one part of the hydraulic system. A leak in either half of the dual brake system is signaled by the brake system warning light, which illuminates when the brake fluid level in the master cylinder drops below the specified level.
The warning light will remain on until the cause is corrected.
NOTE:
The warning light may flicker briefly during sharp cornering, as this changes the fluid level conditions. Have the vehicle serviced and the brake fluid level checked.
If a brake failure is detected, immediate repair is required.
Vehicles equipped with an anti-lock brake system (ABS) are also equipped with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). If the EBD fails, the brake warning light will illuminate together with the ABS warning light. Immediate repair of the ABS system is required.
The brake system warning light can be checked by turning the ignition switch from the OFF position to the ON/RUN position. The light should illuminate for approximately two seconds. It should then go out if the parking brake is not applied and no brake malfunction is detected. If the light does not illuminate, have the bulb checked at an authorized dealer. The light also illuminates when the parking brake is applied with the ignition switch in the ON/RUN position.
NOTE:
This warning light only indicates that the parking brake is applied. It does not indicate the degree of braking.
Battery Charging Warning Light
This warning light illuminates when the battery is not being charged properly. If it remains on with the engine running, there may be a malfunction in the charging system. Contact an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
This indicates a possible problem in the electrical system or a related component.
Door Open Warning Light
This warning light illuminates when a door is ajar or open and not fully closed.
NOTE:
If the vehicle is moving, a single chime will also sound.
Electric Power Steering (EPS) Malfunction Warning Light
This warning light illuminates when a malfunction occurs in the EPS system.
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Warning Light
This warning light illuminates to indicate a problem with the ETC system. If the problem is detected while the vehicle is being driven, the light will remain on or flash depending on the nature of the problem. Turn the ignition on when the vehicle is safely and completely stopped and the transmission is in PARK. The light should go out. If the light remains on while the engine is running, the vehicle can generally be driven; however, have it serviced by an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
NOTE:
This warning light may illuminate if the accelerator and brake pedals are depressed at the same time.
If the warning light continues to flash while driving, have the vehicle serviced immediately. You may experience reduced performance, high or rough idle, or the engine may stall, and the vehicle may require towing. The light illuminates when the ignition is turned to the ON/RUN or ACC/ON/RUN position and remains on briefly as a bulb check. If the light does not illuminate during starting, have the system checked by an authorized dealer.
Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light
This warning light indicates an engine overheating condition. If the engine coolant temperature becomes too high, this light will illuminate and a single chime will sound. If the temperature reaches the upper limit, a continuous chime will sound for four minutes or until the engine cools, whichever occurs first.
If the warning light illuminates while driving, stop the vehicle safely. If the air conditioning (A/C) system is on, turn it off. Also shift the transmission to NEUTRAL and let the engine idle. If the temperature gauge does not return to normal, immediately turn off the engine and contact a service center.
Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light
This warning light illuminates to indicate low engine oil pressure. If the light comes on while driving, stop the vehicle as soon as possible, turn off the engine, and contact an authorized dealer. A chime will sound when this light illuminates.
Do not operate the vehicle until the cause is corrected. This light does not indicate the amount of engine oil. Check the engine oil level under the hood. Oil Temperature Warning Light
Engine Oil Temperature Warning Light
This warning light indicates high engine oil temperature. If the light comes on while driving, stop the vehicle as soon as possible and turn off the engine. Wait for the oil temperature to return to normal.
Seat Belt Reminder Warning Light
This warning light indicates when the driver or passenger seat belt is not fastened. When the ignition is first turned to the ON/RUN or ACC/ON/RUN position, and the driver seat belt is not fastened, a chime will sound and the light will illuminate. While driving, if the driver or front passenger seat belt remains unfastened, the seat belt reminder light will flash or remain on continuously, and a chime will sound.
Transmission Temperature Warning Light — If Equipped
This warning light will illuminate to warn of high transmission fluid temperature. This may occur during severe use, such as towing a trailer. If this light illuminates, stop the vehicle and run the engine at idle or slightly faster, with the transmission in PARK or NEUTRAL, until the light turns off. Once the light turns off, you may continue driving normally.
Liftgate Ajar Warning Light
This light will illuminate when the liftgate is open or not fully closed.
NOTE:
If the vehicle is moving, a single chime will also sound.
Vehicle Security Warning Light — If Equipped
This light will flash rapidly for approximately 15 seconds when the vehicle security alarm is armed, and then will flash slowly until the vehicle is disarmed.
