Towing the vehicle
The towing eye supplied with the vehicle is stored in the tool container located under the luggage compartment floor covering.
FITTING THE TOWING EYE
Remove the cover A by hand, fig. 104 (front bumper) or A fig. 105 (rear bumper), pressing it at the bottom, take the towing ring B out of its seat in the tool container and screw it in fully onto the front or rear threaded stud.
104 (front bumper) or A, fig. 105 (rear bumper): press at the bottom and remove the towing eye B from its socket in the tool compartment, then screw it in fully onto the front or rear threaded stud.

Versions with Dualogic gearbox
Make sure the gearbox is in neutral (N) (by trying to move the vehicle) and carry out the same steps as for towing a vehicle with a manual gearbox. If the gearbox cannot be set to neutral, do not tow the vehicle; contact an authorised Fiat dealer.
Punto VAN version
The vehicle is equipped with two towing eyes of different lengths: the shorter one is fitted at the front, and the longer one at the rear.
The towing eyes are stored in the Fix&Go automatic kit container.
CAUTION
145) Before towing, turn the key in the ignition switch to the MAR position, then to the STOP position, without removing it. Removing the key will automatically lock the steering wheel, preventing the wheels from being steered.
146) Before screwing in the towing eye, thoroughly clean the threaded seat.
Before towing, also make sure that the towing eye is screwed in fully into the corresponding seat.
147) When towing the vehicle, remember that the brake servo and electric power steering are not working; as a result, you must apply more force when pressing the brake pedal or turning the steering wheel. Do not use elastic tow ropes, to avoid jerking.
When preparing for towing, check that the fastening of the vehicle connections will not damage the components they contact. During towing, observe the applicable road traffic regulations concerning both the towing equipment and driving behaviour on the road.
Do not start the engine while the vehicle is being towed.
148) The front and rear towing eyes should be used only for moving the vehicle on a level road. Towing over short distances is permitted using suitable equipment compliant with road traffic regulations (rigid towbar), moving the vehicle on a level surface to prepare it for towing or for transport on a breakdown truck. The eyes MUST NOT be used to move the vehicle off a level road or where there are obstacles, and/or for towing with ropes or other non-rigid devices. Subject to the above guidance, vehicles should, where possible, be towed along the same longitudinal axis (towing and towed vehicle).
149) Do not use towing eyes to secure the vehicle on a ship.
