The steering column sets a stop position just short of the end of column travel, to avoid damaging the steering column. A new stop position is set if the steering column strikes an object while tilting or telescoping.
To return the steering column to the normal stop position:
- Make sure nothing is blocking steering column movement.
- Press and hold the steering column control until the steering column stops moving.
- Press the steering column control again.
- When the steering column stops, continue holding the control for several seconds.
- Repeat for each direction, if necessary.
A new stop position is set. The next time you tilt or telescope the steering column, it stops just before the end of column travel.
