For instructions on the correct use of safety restraints for children, see the following sections.
Child Safety Restraint Recommendations
By law, you are required to use child restraints correctly for infants and toddlers in the United States and Canada.
In many states and provinces, small children are required to use approved booster seats until they reach eight years of age, a height of 57 inches (1.45 m), or 80 lb (36 kg). Check local, state or provincial laws to learn about the specific child safety requirements in your area.
Whenever possible, properly restrain children aged 12 years and younger in the rear seat of your vehicle. Accident statistics show that children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seat than in the front seat position. See Passenger Airbag Sensing System.
When installing a rear-facing child restraint, adjust the vehicle seat to avoid interference between the child restraint and the vehicle seat in front of it.
