General Procedures - Camshaft Surface Inspection

~1min read

  1. Inspect the camshaft lobes for pitting or damage in the active area. Minor pitting is acceptable outside the active area. The active area includes the opening ramp and the closing ramp. The opening ramp is the point where the lifter just begins to rise to the point where it reaches the nose. The closing ramp is the point from the nose back to the point where the lifter returns to the base circle. The base circle of the camshaft is not the active area.
