Fuel Tank. Removal and Installation

Removal

1. 1
   Refer to: Gasoline and Gasoline-Ethanol Fuel System Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

   Position the vehicle in NEUTRAL on the lift.
   Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

   Release the fuel system pressure.

   Drain the fuel tank.

   Remove the clips and the splash shield.

   Remove the retainers and the air deflector.

   Remove the retainers and heat shield.

   Remove the exhaust system.

   If equipped.
   Remove the clips, the retainer and the air deflector.

    Disconnect the electrical connector and move the wiring harness aside.

    Remove the clips and the deflector.

    NOTICE: Do not remove the clamp on the fuel tank filler neck hose connection. The plastic tank is susceptible to damage from overtightening and/or repeated retightening.

    • Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose from the fuel tank filler neck.

    • Remove the fuel tank strap bolts.
      Use the general equipment: floor jack
      Use the general equipment: hose clamp(s)
      Torque:
      1.: 35 lb-in (4 N·m)
      2.: 18 lb-ft (25 N·m)

    Lower the fuel tank far enough to disconnect the electrical connector and the vapor lines. Remove the fuel tank.

    Use the general equipment: floor jack

    

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
