Driving tips

Economical driving

~1min read

The following information is intended to help you optimise your fuel consumption.

Tyre pressures

Check your tyre pressures regularly to optimise fuel consumption. For best results, use the economy pressures. See Tyre pressures (page 271).

Gear shifting

Select the highest gear suitable for the road conditions.

Anticipation

Adapt your vehicle speed and the distance to other vehicles, avoiding sudden braking or acceleration.

Efficient driving speed

Driving at high speeds increases fuel consumption. Reduce your cruising speed on high-speed roads.

Accessories

Avoid fitting non-essential accessories to the outside of the vehicle. If you have a roof rack, fold it down or remove it when it is not in use.

Electrical systems

Switch off all electrical systems that are not in use, for example the air conditioning.

Remember to unplug all unused accessories from the auxiliary power sockets.

Necessary precautions in cold weather

The operation of certain components and systems may be affected by temperatures below -25°C.
