Automatic wipers
Note: fully defrost the windshield before switching on the windshield wipers. Note: make sure the windshield wipers are switched off before driving the vehicle into a car wash. Note: clean the windshield and the wiper blades if they start to leave streaks or smears on the windshield.
If the problem persists, fit new wiper blades.
Note: if the automatic headlamps and automatic wipers have been activated together, your low beam headlamps switch on automatically when the rain sensor continuously activates the windshield wipers. Note: In humid or wintry conditions with ice, snow or salted roads, the wipers may sweep irregularly and unexpectedly or leave smears.
In these conditions, you can do the following to keep your windshield clear:
- Lower the automatic wiper sensitivity to reduce smearing.
- Switch to normal or fast wiping speed.
- Switch off the automatic wipers.

- Highest sensitivity
- Activate
- Lowest sensitivity
The automatic wiper function uses a rain sensor. It is located in the area around the interior rear-view mirror.
The rain sensor monitors the moisture level on the windshield and automatically activates the wipers. It adjusts the wipe speed according to the moisture level detected on the windshield by the sensor.
Note: This wiper function is switched on automatically and remains on until you switch it off from the information display. You can also switch it back on at any time.
Use the rotary control to adjust the sensitivity of the rain sensor. Set the control to low sensitivity so that the wipers activate when the rain sensor detects a high level of moisture on the windshield. Set the control to high sensitivity so that the wipers activate when the rain sensor detects a low level of moisture on the windshield.
Note: When you set the wiper system to intermittent wiping and the automatic wiper system is switched on, the sensitivity of the automatic wiper system adapts the wiper speed to the moisture present on the windshield only. Use the wiper lever to clean the windshield whenever you wish.
Keep the outside of the windshield clean. The rain sensor is very sensitive. If the area around the mirror is dirty, the wipers may activate when dirt, mist or insects hit the windshield.
