Buying New Tires
GM has developed and approved special tires for this vehicle. The original equipment tires were designed to meet General Motors Tire Performance Criteria Specification (TPC Spec) rating system. When tire replacement is required, GM strongly recommends purchasing tires with the same TPC Spec rating.
The exclusive GM TPC Spec system considers more than a dozen critical characteristics affecting overall vehicle performance, including braking system performance, ride and handling, traction control, and tire pressure monitoring system performance. The GM TPC Spec number is molded into the tire sidewall next to the tire size. If the tires have an all-season tread design, the TPC Spec number will be followed by M+S for mud and snow. See Tire Sidewall Labeling.
GM recommends replacing worn tires in sets of four. Equal tread depth on all tires helps maintain vehicle performance. Braking and handling performance may be adversely affected if not all tires are replaced at the same time. If proper rotation is performed and maintenance is done, all four tires should wear at about the same rate. See Tire Rotation. However, if it is necessary to replace only one axle set of worn tires, place the new tires on the rear axle.
Winter tires with the same speed rating as original equipment tires may not be available for H, V, W, Y, and ZR speed rated tires. Never exceed the maximum speed of winter tires when using winter tires with a lower speed rating.
If the vehicle's tires must be replaced with tires that do not have a TPC Spec number, make sure they have the same size, load range, speed rating, and construction (radial) as the original tires.
Vehicles with a tire pressure monitor system may give an inaccurate low tire pressure warning if TPC Spec tires are not installed. See Tire Pressure Monitor System.
The tire and loading information label shows the original tires for the vehicle. See Vehicle Load Limits.
