Dual Automatic Climate Control System
This system is used to control heating, cooling, and ventilation in the vehicle.

- Driver Temperature Control
- Air Conditioning (A/C)
- Air Delivery Mode Controls
- Fan Control
- Defrost
- Passenger Temperature Control
- SYNC (Synchronized Temperature)
- Rear Window Defroster
- Power Button
- Recirculation
- AUTO (Automatic Operation)
Automatic Operation
The system automatically controls the following four functions to heat or cool the vehicle to the desired temperature:
- Fan Speed
- Air Delivery Mode
- Air Conditioning
- Recirculation
When the AUTO indicator is on, all four functions operate automatically. Each function can be set manually, and the selected setting will be displayed. This cancels fully automatic operation, and the AUTO indicator turns off. Functions that are not set manually will still be controlled automatically, although the AUTO indicator will not illuminate.
To place the system in automatic mode:
- Press AUTO.
- Set the driver and passenger temperature.
To find a comfortable setting, start with 22 °C and allow the system time to stabilize. Then adjust the temperature as needed for the best comfort.
To improve fuel economy and cool the vehicle faster, recirculation may be selected automatically in warm weather.
The recirculation indicator does not illuminate when in automatic control.
Press
To manually select recirculation, press the button. Press again to select outside air.
Do not cover the solar sensor on the top of the instrument panel near the windshield. This sensor adjusts the air temperature based on solar load. See "Sensor" later in this section.
Manual Operation
: Press to turn the climate control system on or off. When off, no air will flow into the vehicle. Turning the system back on can be done by pressing any other button or turning the knob.
: Turn clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease fan speed. Press the knob to turn the fan off.
Press AUTO to return to automatic operation.
Driver and Passenger Temperature Control: The temperature can be adjusted separately for the driver and passenger.
Turn the knob clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the driver or passenger temperature setting.
SYNC: Press to link the passenger temperature setting to the driver setting. The SYNC indicator will illuminate. When the passenger temperature settings are adjusted, the SYNC indicator turns off.
On the driver or passenger side, the temperature display shows the temperature setting as it is increased or decreased.
Airflow Mode Control: Press
,
,
, or
to change the direction of airflow. The indicator light comes on for the selected mode button.
Changing the mode cancels automatic operation and the system switches to manual mode. Press AUTO to return to automatic operation.
: Air is directed to the instrument panel vents.
: Air is divided between the instrument panel and floor vents.
: Air is directed to the floor vents, some to the windshield, side window outlets, and second row floor vents.
: This mode clears fog or moisture from the windows. Air is directed to the windshield, floor vents, and side window defrosters.
: Press to clear fog or frost from the windshield faster. Air is directed to the windshield and side window defrosters. The A/C compressor also runs unless the outside temperature is below freezing.
Do not drive the vehicle until all windows are clear.
See Ventilation Louvers.
A/C: Press to turn the air conditioning system on or off. An indicator light illuminates to show that the A/C is on. If the fan is off, no air conditioning air will flow. The A/C light stays on even when outside temperatures are below freezing, and the A/C compressor may be off.
: Press to turn on recirculation. The indicator light comes on. Recirculated air is used for rapid cooling inside the vehicle. It can also be used to reduce outside air and odors entering the vehicle.
Rear Window Defroster
The rear window defroster uses heated grid lines to remove fog from the rear window.
-
: Press to turn the rear window defogger on or off. The indicator light on the button illuminates to show that the rear defogger is on. Rear defogger operates only when the ignition is on. The defogger turns off if the ignition is off or in ACC/ACCESSORY.
Heated Mirrors: If equipped with heated outside mirrors, the rearview mirrors are heated to help clear fog or frost from the mirror surface when the rear window defroster button is pressed. See Heated Mirrors.
Sensor
The solar sensor, located on top of the instrument panel near the windshield, monitors solar heat.
The climate control system uses sensor information to adjust temperature, fan speed, recirculation, and airflow mode for best comfort. The automatic recirculation sensitivity can be adjusted. See "Air Quality Sensor" in the Vehicle Personalization section.
Do not cover the sensor; otherwise, the automatic climate control system may not operate properly.
