Polishing the Body

~1min read

Before polishing, wash and dry the body thoroughly. Polish the entire body, including the metal trim elements, if water remains on it in large droplets. After treating the body with polish, water splashes will run off or collect into separate small droplets.

Use a liquid or paste polish for body treatment. Follow the manufacturer's instructions printed on the packaging of the specific product. Two main types of polishing compounds are produced:

Wax-based polish forms a decorative protective film that protects the paint from the harmful effects of sunlight and aggressive substances in the air. This type of polish is intended for treating new vehicles.

Cleaning polish restores the original gloss. Such polishing compounds contain mild abrasives and solvents that remove a thin contaminated layer of the paint finish. Use cleaning polish to restore the original gloss to the body paint if body treatment with wax-based polish does not produce the desired result.

When removing bitumen spots, insect remains and similar contaminants from the body surface using various solvents, the polish layer is also removed. Therefore, after cleaning contaminated areas of the body, treat them with polish, even if the other body areas do not need polishing.
