Emergency Front Belt Fixing Device (EFD) Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The Emergency Front Belt Fixing Device (EFD) operates simultaneously with the seat belt pretensioner when the deployment condition is met after a collision. It is an auxiliary device that prevents the driver and front passenger from slipping out by pulling the seat belt toward the anchor side after a collision. It is located near the anchor of the driver and front passenger seats and is supported by two cables.
  • Never measure the resistance of the anchor pretensioner directly. The current of the measuring device may cause unexpected airbag deployment.
