Inspection
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the intake actuator connector.
- Check that the intake actuator operates to the home position when 12 V is applied to terminal 3 and terminal 4 is grounded. Check that the intake actuator moves to the recirculation position when the connections are reversed.

Pin No. Function 1 - 2 - 3 Fresh Air 4 Sensor (+5V) 5 Feedback Signal 6 Sensor Ground 7 Recirculation - Connect the intake actuator connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Check the voltage between terminals 6 and 5.
- If the measured voltage does not meet the specification, check the operation by replacing the existing intake actuator with a new genuine part. After that, determine whether replacement of the temperature control actuator is required or not.
Diagnosis Using GDS
- The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system can quickly diagnose faulty parts using the Global Diagnostic System (GDS).
The Diagnostic System (GDS) provides the following information. (1) Self-diagnosis: Check the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and display. (2) Current data: Check the input/output status of the system. (3) Actuation test: Check the operating status of the system. (4) Additional functions: Other controls such as system option and zero point adjustment. - Select "Vehicle Model" and the system to be checked to inspect the vehicle with the tester.
- Select the "Current Data" menu to check the current input/output status. Input/output data for the sensors related to the intake actuator can be checked.

- To perform a forced operation of the intake actuator input factors, select "ACTUATOR TEST".

Replacement
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Remove the driver airbag module assembly. (Refer to Body - "Driver Airbag Module Assembly")
- Disconnect the connector (A), then remove the intake actuator (B) after loosening the mounting screws.

- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
