Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the roof headliner assembly. (Refer to Body - "Roof Trim")
  3. Remove the sunroof motor (A) after loosening the screws and disconnecting the connector.
  4. Remove the sunshade motor (A) after loosening the screws and disconnecting the connector.
Sunroof Reset Whenever the vehicle battery is disconnected or discharged, or when the emergency handle is used to operate the sunroof, the sunroof system must be reset as follows:
You need to reset the sunroof motor to its default settings in the following cases:
  • The sunroof motor is temporarily discharged from the battery when the battery or fuse is replaced or the battery is discharged.
  • The one-touch automatic opening or closing function of the sunroof does not operate properly.
  • The sunroof reopens during automatic closing even if no object is caught in the sunroof (safety function).
  1. With the ignition ON, fully close the glass and sunshade using the glass close switch.
  2. When the glass and sunshade are closed, release the glass close switch and press it again. The sunshade then opens and the glass moves to the tilt-up position.
  3. In the tilt-up position, release and press the glass close switch within five seconds. After five seconds, the glass opens and closes, and the sunroof initialization process is complete. > During the initialization process, if the glass close switch is released and the sunroof stops moving, initialization is not fully completed and the process must be restarted.
  4. The sunroof control unit (roof control unit) determines the motor run time.
  5. The motor can operate continuously for run time T1 (120 ± 10 s).
  6. The motor that has operated continuously for T1 stops during cool time T2 (18 ± 2 s).
  7. The motor then does not operate during cool time T2 (18 ± 2 s).
  8. After cool time T2 (18 ± 2 s), the motor operates continuously for run time T3 (10 ± 2 s).
  9. The motor that operates continuously stops after run time T3 (10 ± 2 s).
  10. The motor does not operate during cool time T4 (18 ± 2 s).
  11. The engine repeats T3 and T4 when it operates continuously.
    A. If the engine does not operate continuously, the operating time limited to prevent overheating is increased.
    B. The motor operating time resets to "0" if the battery or fuse is reconnected after being disconnected, discharged, or blown.
    T1: 120 ± 10 sec., T2: 18 ± 2 sec., T3: 10 ± 2 sec., T4: 18 ± 2 sec.
Motor Overheat Prevention To protect the sunroof motor from overheating caused by continuous operation, the sunroof control unit controls the run time and cool time.
