SRS Airbag System Maintenance

~1min read

The SRS airbag system requires virtually no maintenance. Therefore, no part of the system can be serviced by the owner. If the SRS airbag warning light does not illuminate when the ignition switch is in the ON position, or if it remains on, we recommend that you have your vehicle's system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer immediately.

We recommend that any work on the SRS system, such as removal, installation, repair, or any work on the steering wheel, instrument panel, front passenger side, front seats, and side guide rails be performed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. Improper handling of the SRS system may result in serious injury.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death, observe the following precautions:

  • Modifications to SRS components or wiring, including the addition of any type of emblem to the pad covers or changes to the vehicle body structure, may affect SRS operation and may result in possible injury.
  • The edge and panel facing the front passenger above the glove box are equipped with airbag components.
  • Do not place any objects on or near the airbag modules on the steering wheel or instrument panel. To clean the airbag covers, use only a cloth dampened with water. Solvents or cleaning agents may damage the airbag covers and impair proper system deployment.
  • We recommend that you use genuine airbags from an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • If SRS airbag system components must be disposed of, or if the vehicle must be scrapped, certain precautions must be observed. For further necessary information, we recommend that you contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. Failure to observe these precautions may increase the risk of injury.
