Additional Precautions
Passengers must not leave their seats or change seats while the vehicle is moving. A passenger who is not wearing a seat belt during a collision or emergency stop may be thrown forward inside the vehicle, strike other occupants, or be ejected from the vehicle.
Do not use any accessories on the seat belts. Devices intended to increase passenger comfort or change the position of the seat belt may reduce the protection provided by the belt and increase the risk of serious injury in a crash.
Do not make any modifications to the front seats. Modifications to the front seats may interfere with the operation of the side impact sensors or side airbags of the supplemental restraint system.
Do not place anything under the front seats. Any object placed under the front seats may interfere with the sensors and wiring harnesses of the supplemental restraint system.
Do not strike the doors. Impact to the doors with the ignition switch in the ON position may cause the airbags to deploy.
Adding Equipment or Modifying Your Vehicle Equipped with Airbags
If you modify your vehicle by replacing the chassis, bumpers, front or side panels, or ground clearance, this may affect the operation of the vehicle's airbag system.
