WARNING

Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive. Failure to follow these instructions may result in SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH:

  • Read and follow all warnings posted at the service station.
  • Before refueling, locate the emergency fuel shut-off button at the service station.
  • Before touching the pump nozzle, touch a metal part of the vehicle at a safe distance from the filler neck, pump nozzle, or any other fuel source to avoid the risk of static electricity discharge from your bare hands.
  • Do not use a mobile phone while refueling. Electrical current and/or electronic interference from a mobile phone may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire.
  • Do not re-enter the vehicle after you have started refueling. Movement, friction, or sliding on objects or fabric can generate static electricity. A static discharge may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire. If you need to re-enter the vehicle, first discharge static electricity by touching a metal part of the vehicle away from the filler neck, pump nozzle, or any other fuel source with your bare hand.
  • When filling a portable fuel container, place the container on the ground before refueling. Static electricity discharge from the container may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire. After refueling has started, you must keep your bare hand in contact with the vehicle until refueling is complete.
  • Use only approved plastic containers designed for transporting and storing gasoline.
  • When refueling, always move the gear selector to P (Park, for automatic transmissions) or first gear, or R (Reverse, for manual transmissions), then apply the parking brake and turn the ignition key to the LOCK/OFF position. Electrical components connected to the engine create sparks which may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire.
  • Do not use matches or lighters, do not smoke, and do not leave lit cigarettes in the vehicle at the fuel station, especially during refueling.
  • Do not overfill the fuel tank of your vehicle, as this may cause fuel spillage.
  • If a fire occurs during refueling, move away from the vehicle and immediately notify the station attendant, then the fire department. Follow the safety instructions they give you.
  • Your clothing and skin may be sprayed with pressurized fuel, which makes you particularly susceptible to ignition and burns. Carefully remove the fuel filler cap. If fuel escapes or you hear a hissing sound, wait until the hissing stops completely before fully removing the cap.
  • Always check that the fuel filler cap is in place to prevent fuel loss in the event of an accident.

Intelligent

  • Always refuel your vehicle in accordance with the fuel requirements described in the INTRODUCTION chapter.
  • Be careful not to spill fuel on the exterior surfaces of the vehicle. Fuel of any type spilled on painted surfaces may damage the paint.

NOTICE

If you need to replace the fuel filler cap, we recommend using only an original HYUNDAI cap or an equivalent cap suitable for your vehicle. Installing an unsuitable cap may result in damage to the fuel system or emission control system.
