Inspection

  1. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector (A).
  2. Check for continuity between terminals 1 and 2 of the back-up light switch. When the shift lever is in reverse, there should be continuity.

REPLACEMENT

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Air Cleaner")
  2. Disconnect the battery and battery tray. (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "Battery".)
  3. Remove the ECM. (Refer to Engine Control System - "ECM".)
  4. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector (A).
  5. Remove the back-up light switch (A).
  6. Install a new back-up light switch.

    Tightening torque: 39.2 ~ 59 N·m
