1. Make sure the shift lever is in P (Park, automatic transmission) or in 1st gear, or N (Neutral, manual transmission), and apply the parking brake.

2. Pull the hood release lever to unlatch the hood. The hood should then open.

3. Go to the front of the vehicle, lift the hood slightly, press the safety latch (1) located at the center of the hood, and then lift the hood (2).

4. Pull out the hood prop rod.

5. Hold the hood open with the prop rod.

WARNING

  • Place the prop rod in the rubber area to avoid burns from hot metal when the engine temperature is high.
  • The prop rod must be fully secured in the hole provided on the hood each time you inspect the engine compartment. This prevents the hood from falling and causing injury.
