Practical Features of Your Vehicle

Immobilizer System (if equipped)

~1min read

The immobilizer system protects your vehicle from theft. If an incorrectly coded key (or other device) is used, the fuel supply to the engine is cut off.

When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the immobilizer indicator light should come on briefly and then go off. If the indicator light starts flashing, the system does not recognize the key code.

Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position, then turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

The system may not recognize your key code if another key, immobilizer, or other metal object (such as a key ring) is near the key. A metal accessory may interrupt the transponder signal and thus prevent the engine from starting.

If the system repeatedly fails to recognize the key code, we recommend contacting an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Do not attempt to modify the system or add other peripheral devices. Problems may make your vehicle unsafe to drive.

WARNING

To prevent theft, be careful not to leave spare keys in plain view. Your immobilizer password is generated exclusively for you and must be kept confidential.

NOTICE

The transponder in the ignition key is an important part of the immobilizer system. It is designed for normal operation for five years. However, do not expose it to moisture or static electricity. Handle with care. Malfunction of the immobilizer system may occur.
