Hyundai Ioniq. Charging Precautions

■ Standard Charging Cable

The actual appearance of the charging cable and the charging method may differ depending on the charging equipment manufacturer.

WARNING

  • Electromagnetic waves generated by the charging cable may seriously affect medical electrical devices such as implantable cardiac pacemakers. Before using medical electrical devices such as implantable cardiac pacemakers, be sure to consult the medical staff and the device manufacturer to find out whether charging your electrified vehicle will affect the operation of medical electrical devices such as implantable cardiac pacemakers.
  • Make sure there is no water or dust on the charging cable connector and plug before connecting to the charging equipment and the charging connector. Connecting while water or dust is present on the charging cable connector and plug may cause a fire or electric shock.

WARNING

  • Be careful not to touch the charging connector, charging plug, and charging inlet on the vehicle when connecting the cable to the charging equipment and the charging inlet.
  • To avoid electric shock when charging, observe the following precautions:
    - Use a waterproof charging device.
    - Be careful when touching the charging connector and charging plug with wet hands, or when standing in water or snow while connecting the charging cable.
    - Be careful during lightning.
    - Be careful when the charging connector and plug are wet.

WARNING

  • Stop charging immediately if any abnormal symptoms (odor, smoke) are detected.
  • Replace the charging cable if the cable insulation is damaged to prevent electric shock.
  • When connecting or disconnecting the charging cable, always hold the handle of the charging connector and the charging plug. If you pull the cable itself (without using the handle), the internal wires may disconnect or become damaged. This may cause electric shock or fire.

CAUTION

  • Always keep the charging connector and charging plug clean and dry. Make sure the charging cable is free of water and moisture.
  • Always use the dedicated charging device to charge the electric vehicle. Using any other charging device may cause a malfunction.
  • Turn off the vehicle before charging the battery.
  • When the vehicle is off during charging, the cooling fan inside the engine compartment may operate automatically. Do not touch the cooling fan during charging.
  • Be careful not to drop the charging connector. The charging connector may be damaged.
