Hybrid System Overview

If an accident occurs

WARNING

  • For your safety, do not touch high-voltage cables, connectors, or battery modules. High-voltage components are orange in color.
  • Exposed cables or wires may be visible inside or outside the vehicle. Never touch wires or cables, as this may result in electric shock, injury, or death.
  • Any leakage of gas or electrolyte from your vehicle is not only toxic but also flammable. If you see any leakage, open the windows and stay at a safe distance from the vehicle. Immediately contact emergency response personnel and inform them that the vehicle is a hybrid vehicle.
  • If the vehicle is severely damaged, keep a safe distance of 50 ft. (15 m) or more between your vehicle and other vehicles/flammable materials.

WARNING

If a fire occurs:

In case of a small fire, use a fire extinguisher (ABC or BC) designed for electrical fires. If the fire cannot be extinguished at an early stage, stay at a safe distance from the vehicle and immediately call 911. Also inform them that the vehicle is an electrified vehicle.

If the fire spreads to the high-voltage battery, a large amount of water is required to extinguish it. Using a small amount of water or extinguishers not designed for electrical fires may result in serious injury or death from electric shock.

WARNING

When the vehicle is submerged in water:

When your vehicle is submerged in water, the high-voltage battery may cause electric shock or fire. Therefore, turn off the hybrid system, take the key with you, and move to a safe place. Never attempt to physically contact a submerged vehicle.

Contact emergency response personnel immediately and inform them that a hybrid vehicle is involved.
