If the Engine Stalls While Driving
- Gradually reduce speed while keeping the vehicle in a straight line. Carefully move from the road to a safe location.
- Turn on the hazard warning flashers.
- Try to restart the engine. If the vehicle does not start, we recommend contacting an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
If the engine stalls at an intersection or crosswalk
If the engine stalls at an intersection or crosswalk, if it is safe to do so, shift the gear shift lever to N (Neutral) and push the vehicle to a safe location.
If You Have a Flat Tire While Driving
If a tire goes flat while driving:
- Release the accelerator pedal and let the vehicle decelerate while moving straight ahead. Do not apply the brake immediately or attempt to leave the road, as this may result in loss of vehicle control and an accident. When the vehicle has slowed to a speed at which it is safe to do so, carefully apply the brake and leave the road. Move as far off the road as possible and park on a firm, level surface. If you are on a divided road, do not park in the median area between the two traffic lanes.
- When the vehicle is stopped, press the hazard warning flasher button, shift the gear shift lever to P (Park, for a vehicle with a dual clutch transmission) or N (Neutral, for a vehicle with a manual transmission), apply the parking brake, and turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position.
- Ask all passengers to exit the vehicle. Make sure they all exit on the side of the vehicle away from traffic.
- When replacing a flat tire, follow the instructions given later in this chapter.
