Why didn't my air bag deploy in a collision?

There are certain types of accidents in which airbag deployment is not expected to provide additional protection. These include rear impacts, second or third collisions, multiple impacts, and low-speed impacts. Vehicle damage indicates energy absorption during a collision and is not an indicator of whether the airbag should actually have deployed.
