~2min read

Operates as follows when the ignition switch is ON.

MIST: For a single wiping cycle, push the lever down ( ) or up (MIST) and release it. The wipers will operate continuously if the lever is held in that position.

O/OFF: Wipers do not operate.

INT (---/INT): The wipers operate intermittently at fixed intervals. Use this mode in light rain or fog. To change the speed setting, turn the speed control knob.

1/LO: Normal wiper speed.

2/HI: High wiper speed.

Information

If heavy snow or ice has accumulated on the windshield, defrost the windshield for approximately 10 minutes, or until the snow and/or ice is removed, before using the wipers to ensure proper operation.

If you do not remove the snow and/or ice before using the wiper and washer, the wiper and washer system may be damaged.

AUTO (Automatic) Operation

The rain sensor, located at the upper part of the windshield, detects the amount of rain and controls the wiping cycle at appropriate intervals. The heavier the rain, the faster the wipers operate.

When the rain stops, the wipers stop. To change the sensitivity setting, turn the speed control knob (1).

If the wiper switch is set to AUTO when the ignition switch is in the ON position, the wipers will operate once to perform a system self-check. Set the wiper switch to OFF when the wipers are not in use.

WARNING

To avoid injury from the windshield wipers when the engine is running and the wiper switch is in AUTO:

  • Do not touch the upper edge of the windshield near the rain sensor.
  • Do not wipe the upper edge of the windshield with a wet or damp cloth.
  • Do not press on the windshield.

NOTICE

  • When washing the vehicle, set the wiper switch to the O (OFF) position to stop automatic wiper operation. The wipers may activate and become damaged if the switch is in AUTO during vehicle washing.
  • Do not remove the sensor cover located at the upper end of the passenger side windshield. Damage to system components may occur and may not be covered by your vehicle warranty.
