Repair Procedures

Removal

The headlamps become very hot during use. Do not touch them or any equipment mounting parts immediately after switching them off.

Do not remove the headlamp bulb from the headlamp assembly until just before installing a new bulb. Leaving the bulb removed for a long time may affect headlamp performance. Contaminants may enter the headlamp assembly and settle on the lens and reflector. Never operate the headlamps with the bulb removed from the headlamp assembly.

   Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

   Remove the front bumper cover. (Refer to Body - "Front Bumper Cover")

   Disconnect the bulb connector (A).

   Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the headlamp assembly (A).

   

   Be careful not to damage the locking clip (A).

   Remove the dust cap (A) from the headlamp assembly by turning it counterclockwise.

   Disconnect the connector, then remove the bulb.

Installation

   Install the headlamp bulb.

   Install the dust cap.

   Install the headlamp assembly after connecting the bulb connector.

Headlamp Aiming Instructions

   Turn the adjusting mechanism alternately to adjust the headlamp aim. If beam setting equipment is not available, proceed as follows:

   The vehicle must be on a level surface.

   Draw vertical lines (vertical lines passing through the centers of the respective lamps) and a horizontal line (horizontal line passing through the center of the headlamps) on the screen.

   When the headlamps and battery are in normal condition, aim the headlamps so that the brightest part is on the horizontal and vertical lines. A: Vertical (High/Low Beam)

   Headlamp (Low Beam)

   • With the low beam on, adjust the light-dark boundary so that it is as shown in the figure below.
   • If the headlamp leveling device is installed, set the headlamp leveling switch to 0 position.

   Headlamp (High Beam)

   • Turn on the high beam without the driver.
   • The light-dark boundary line should project onto the light-dark boundary line shown in the figure.
   • When aiming the low beam, adjust the vertical aim after adjusting the horizontal aim.
   • If the headlamp leveling device is installed, set the headlamp leveling switch to 0 position.

   With the front fog lamp on, adjust the light-dark boundary so that it is as shown in the figure below.
